WordPress Blank Screen of Death Solved
For many moons I have been having problems with the WordPress blank screen of death. It seems that there are lot’s of problems that can cause your WordPress install to go south. After removing my wp-config file, the core site files and removing, installing, activating and deactivating plug-ins, scouring through days worth of blog posts … I came up empty for a solution to the dreaded problem. However, I “think” I have finally found the issue with my installs. However, I’m not 100 percent confident … yet.
Back around WP 2.5 … I blogged about having White Out issues after I upgraded … I didn’t know why the hell it happened … after several attempts to the obvious solutions on the WP codex and on several blogger’s sites, I gave up … I just figured that it must be some thing with my permissions or something I just couldn’t find … until I decided to take the advice of one developer that said to log on to my server through a bash shell and upgrade WP through bash … so, I did … and apparently it worked.
In a nutshell, my problem seems to be from transferring files to my server through FTP … for some reason the files are not getting to the server in the right condition. So, I decided to follow the directions for the bash install of WP …
All I can really say is that I am definitely going to be learning my Linux shell commands from here on out … as soon as I ran the command … the damned tarball was downloaded … The files were then decompressed in a flash by simply running
tar http://wordpress.org/lastest.tar.gz
This was the fastest damned upgrade I could have ever imagined and better yet … my problem disappeared …
