Google Instant Search Goes Live!

This afternoon, Google announced their new Instant Search feature. The conference is still going on live on the Google YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Google). They have a great panel answering questions.

Instant search does exactly what it says, it displays google's results as you type. While this seems like a simple technological change, it can really make a serious impact.

Check out the video for more information about this great new feature:

One of the burning questions for us is of course:

How will Instant Search effect SEO?

From the responses thus far, it seems that Rankings will not be effected at all with this new technology. Panelists have stated that rankings will stay the same, but user behavior will change over time. People will begin to interact with the search box and their behavior will change as they start to expand around their search topic (since more results will be presented and shown as a user types)

So until Google releases new webmaster guidelines, we will stick to the current rules and follow the best practices as we have been doing.
