Well I decided to take my shot at hacking up a WordPress theme … I am familiar with developing in ColdFusion but I figured, what the hell … I’ll take a shot a PHP too …

A buddy of mine gave me access to this monstrous archive of PHP tutorials so I had might as well start to learn something more exciting than how to format content for SEO purposes …

I may do SEO for a living but I have to tell you the truth … doing SEO all day … is really boring. To me, it seems like there is always something challenging and exciting about code. But SEO? Not really.

So I created this theme as a complete Frankenstein Job of the Connections 1.0 Styling and the Neo Classical Engineering … It took me quite a bit of hackery to make it all work out the way I wanted … and I’ll probably still be hackin’ it some more as soon as I discover the bugs … but, I think it looks pretty cool … if you’re not too shy … let me know what you think.

I am so damned busy building out sites for clients and working on projects for others that I haven’t had any time to take care of my blogs and sites … That brings me to an important topic. How important is managing others business when it effects that possible growth and development of your business?

I see it as a fairly difficult decision to deal with. On one hand, the clients pay the bills … on the other, if I don’t take care of my business, then no one is going to do it for me …

When I first started doing SEO independently, not like it is has been that long since I went out on my own … I had a real good plan to devote half of my time to marketing and the other half fulfilling assignments for clients … Now that I have a ton of work coming in, I have been slacking at the marketing side of my business … You’ve got to love it … a search engine marketing “expert” … slacking off at marketing for himself … Though this may seem like the last thing that an SEO would do, I am sure that I am not the first SEO to get piled up with work …

Realistically, it is very hard for me to dedicate my time to anything other than fulfilling client orders right now … as it stands … I am only getting about 4-5 hours of sleep … every other night … (No Joke .. )

So, I guess this is my way of getting a break if you want to call it that … my five minutes away from solving the problems of others … so that I can solve one of my own … If that is what I just did ….

I have been following the developments of a women that has become quite a celebrity to the SEO, PR, and Blogging community, to determine just what it is that makes her so popular.

This interest that I have in her developed as a case of competitive jealousy to be totally honest … Back in January, I submitted an article to Helium to find out how the public would rate my writing. After a few days I was ranked at number three. So I thought … Third? How the …

So, I took a peak at the works of the two authors that outranked me for my article. The article that received position two was so-so, but there was something about the first article … something that intrigued me while at the same time making me a little … well I hate to admit it, but jealous.

The article was by a writer by the name of Mihaela Lica. On the first read of her material, I thought her writings were a bit too idealistic for my taste … but then, I found my way over to her Blog, and started to realize what it was that persuaded me …

After reading several of her articles, I am almost embarrassed to think that I thought of myself as a professional writer. (She’s that good)

This women is without a doubt, one incredibly talented writer and not “too bad” of an SEO either … If Blogging and poetry is your forte, and you haven’t seen the works of Mihaela, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. For a damned good read … Check out the SEO Goddess … I am certain that you will agree she deserves the crown …

I recently released my new Florida SEO campaigns, and I think that I offered a well organized group of services for all types of businesses. My goal was to put together a set of packages that will give every type of business a shot at getting SEO services from Florida Search Engine Optimization . Recently I was doing some internet research and I realized that some one had “lifted” one of my keyword phrases from a presentation that I had given at the South Florida ColdFusion Users Group Meetings back in Nov of 07′. Now, I know that some people are not too interested in having to actually work for a living … but these guys took my ideas and didn’t even attempt to disguise that they had scrapped my keyword phrases right off my other site, Florida Search Engine Optimization.

Is search engine optimization so difficult that some people can’t even do their own research? Is it really that hard for someone to actually perform some work to get their results? It sure seems that this is the case, because even though I gave an explicit step by step video with handouts on how to perform each task, there is a site that is now proclaiming that they rank in Google for the search term “SEO Fort Lauderdale“. Well, I don’t see why they are so impressed with those results. Is “SEO Fort Lauderdale” a highly searched keyword phrase? Is “SEO Fort Lauderdale” a valuable URL? And most of all, what good is it for them to rank for SEO Fort Lauderdale when they don’t own the domain? are they “stealing” my business? Hardly … At any rate … that’s my rant …. I suggest that if anyone get the bright idea to use keywords that are on a competitors site, to at least do their research and determine whether your efforts are going to actually generate some benefit from so doing …
